<248> George Johnson?) -- Born 1776. Son of Teanor Johnson <467) and Prince Johnson <458>. Residing at Nomony Hall in 1784, 1785, 1790, 1791, and 1796. Ir. December 1790, George accompanied John Tasker Carter on his return to school near Philadelphia. Robert Carter directed George to return to Nomony Hall early the following year, since the laws of Pennsylvania would not permit him to stay there as a slave and Carter apparently did not wish to free him under Pennsylvania law. George was named in the 1791 deed of emancipation and was scheduled for emancipation in 1798.
