<325> Criss Johnson -- Born 1770. Daughter of Teanor Johnson <467) and Prince Johnson <458). Residing at Nomony Hall in 1775, 1782, and 1784. In 1785, Criss, described as a waiting maid, was deeded to Carter's daughter, Ann Tasker Peck, as part of her dowry. Apparently, she was returned to Carter's estate sometime before she was sent to live at Coles Point in April 1787. In November 1787, while pregnant, Criss experienced a serious illness. In January 1789, she requested to be transferred from Coles Point to Nomony Hall, where she was residing in 1790, 1791, and 1796. Named in the 1791 deed of emancipation, Criss was scheduled for emancipation in 1801. She was hired by her father, tenant at Nomony Hall, in 1792. Criss was emancipated by a deed dated January 1, 1801; this deed was proved in Frederick County Court on February 2, 1801.
