Parents unknown; husband of Jenny Johnson <416>; probably father of Frances Johnson <228>, George Johnston <170>, Frederick Johnston <157>, Johnson (Johnson?) (096), Timothy Johnson? <042>, Tom Johnson?) <009>, and James (Johnson?) <549. Residing at Nomony Hall in 1782, 1784 (tithable), 1785 (tithable), 1790, and 1791. Described as butcher from 1781 onward; also, tending livestock at Nomony Hall. Aided in recapturing two escaped criminals at Nomony Granary in March 1790. Named in 1791 deed of emancipation. Scheduled for emancipation in 1792. Emancipated by deed dated January 2, 1792; deed proved in Westmoreland County Court, February 28,1792. Authorized to bargain for his own time, February 1,
1792. Received certificate of emancipation, August 4, 1792.
