<460> Solomon Dixon (also "Dickson") -- Born 1743 (one source suggests 1749). Parents unknown; husband of Sukey Dixon <419>; father of Polly Wells <288>, Moses Dickson <153>, Nutty Dickson <141>, Solomon [Dickson?) <053>, and probably others. Residing at Nomony Hall in 1772, 1775, 1784 (tithable), 1785 (tithable), 1790, and 1791. Described as miller in 1774, 1775, 1790, and 1791. working at Double Mill in 1774; apparently in charge by 1781. Offered for hire by Robert Carter as part of Double Mill gang iii 1778, 1789, and 1790. Assisted in agricultural labor at Coles Point in 1788. Aided in recapture of two escaped criminals at Nomony Granary in March 1790, also helped apprehend two black men suspected of breaking into the Double Mill in August 1790. Over 45 years old in 1791. Emancipated by deed dated January 1, 1793; deed proved in Westmoreland County Court, February 27, 1793.
