Parents unknown; husband of Phyllis Newman <420>; probably father of John Newman <162>, Samuel Newman <146>, Peggy Newman 131>, Tom [Newman?) (056), and Jefferson [Newman?] <003>. Residing at Nomony Hall in 1775, 1782,1784 (tithable), 1785 (tithable), 1790, and 1791. Described as cooper in 1774, 1775, 1777, 1790, and 1791, as carpenter in 1786. working as part of Double Mill crew in 1790. Temporarily assigned to Gemini in 1791 to aceict in agricultural labor.
