(303) Jeremiah Johnson (Jerry) -- Born 1771. Parents unknown. Jerry was living at Forest in July 1787, when he was whipped for not stopping three black men (including Primus Johnson, <302)) from fighting in his house. The cause of the fight was a dispute over Jerry's sister, Mary Johnson (318>, who lived with him. Jerry was residing atCancer/Richmond in 1789, 1790, and 1791. Named in the 1791 deed of emancipation, he was scheduled for emancipation in 1792. He was emancipated by a deed dated January 2, 1792; deed proved in Westmorelnd County Court on February 28, 1792. On February 1, 1792, Jerry was authorized to bargain for his own time. He received his certificate of emancipation on August 4, 1792.
