Grace

(<324> Grace -- Born 1772 (one source suggests 1777). Daughter of Robin Spence <479>. Mother of Jesse <586> and Robin (587>; a son named Charles, mentioned in 1797, may be the same as Robin. Sent from Billingsgate to Cancer/Richmond in July 1782. Residing at Aquarius in 1788, 1791, and 1796. Named in 1791 deed of emancipation. Scheduled for emancipation in 1801, but name is not listed among those presented for freedom in that year. By March 1797, Grace, Jesse, and Charles were in Baltimore, but Carcer directed them to return to Nolnony Hall. In May, John Tasker Carter purchased the time that Grace had left to serve until her emancipation.
