Betty Brutus

Betty Brutus ("BettM) -- Born 1765 (one source
suggests 1762). Daughter of sarah Brutus (454>; wife of
Ralph Wormley <362>; mother of Ralph <09e>. Daniel <013>,
and Sally (517). Residing at Coles Point in 1779, 1784,
1785 (tithable), 1788, 1790, and 1791. Treated for insanity
in 1779. Her sister Judith <289> was supposedly impregnated
by Betty's husband Ralph in 1787. In 1791 Betty ran away
with Daniel, abandoning Ralph and Sally. She was recaptured
and in 1792 was sent to Aries, once again described as
insane. In 1796 she was residing at Nomony Hall, still
described as insane. Named in the 1791 deed of
emancipation, Betty was scheduled for emancipation in 1797.
She received her certificate of emancipation in January
