Born 1784. Dark complexion. Son of Phillis Newman (420) and Sawney (407). At Nomony Hall 1790/1791/1796. Scheduled free 1805. Emancipated by deed Jan 1 1805 but deed refused by Frederick County Court. Probably freed after 1808 VA Supreme Court ruling. Registered free in Westmoreland County April 1848.
