Robert Carter II was born at Corotoman in 1704. As a young man, his father, Robert “King” Carter gave him Nomini Hall Plantation in Westmoreland County, Virginia along with some slaves to work that plantation. Nomini Hall was located on Nomini Creek which flows into the Potomac River.
