Named on list of persons to be sent to the Shenandoah tract in 1783, but residing at Cancer/Prince William in 1788 and 1791. Described as foreman in 1790. Named in 1791 deed of emancipation. Scheduled for emancipation in 1792. Emancipated by deed dated January 2, 1792; deed proved inWestrnoreland County Court, April 24, 1792. Hired by Benjamin Berkley, white tenant at Cancer/Prince William1 in 1792. Requested tenement on Robert Carter's land in August 1792; also requested to hire his wife and niece so that they could live with him.
