Samuel Hackney

<301 Samuel Hackney (Sam) -- Born 1770 or 1771. Son of Molly <502>. Residing at Bull Run in 1774, at Virgo in 1788 (foreman) and 1791. Named in 1791 deed of emancipation . Scheduled for emancipation in 1793. Emancipated by deed dated January 1, 1793; deed proved in Westmoreland County Court on February 28, 1793. Probably the same person who was found not guilty on a charge of hog stealing in Fredrick County Court in 1796; who was shot and wounded by one Simon Allensworth in Frederick County, ca. 1815; who was convicted of stealing two sacks of meal in Frederick County Court in 1820; and who was found not guilty by the Frederick County Court of murdering Patty Hackney (relation unknown), who died in December 1818.
