Primus Johnson

<302> Primus Johnson -- Born 1770. Parents unknown; husband of Sukey Johnson (327); probably father of James (Johnson?] <553, Alderson [Johnson?] (554>, and Abner (Johnson?) <555>. Residing at Forest in 1782, 1785, 1788, 1790, and 1791. In July 1787, Primus was one of three men reportedly fighting on account of Mary Johnson <318>; the fight took place in the house of Jerry Johnson <303> at Forest. Primus's wife Sukey was transferred from Coles Point to Forest in January 1789 to be with him. Named in 1791 deed of emancipation, Primus was scheduled for emancipation in 1792. He was emancipated by a deed dated January 2, 1792; deed proved in Westmoreland County Court on February 28, 1792. On February 1, 1792, PriniuB was authorized to bargain for his own time. He received his certificate of emancipation on August 4, 1792.
