James Smith (256>. Residing at Nomony Hall in 1773, 1775,
1782, 1784 (tithable), 1785 (tithable), 1790 (aged 35, i.e.,
53), and 1791. Acting as blacksmith from 1773 onward;
apparently in charge of the shop by 1781, regularly paying
in money collected from customers to Robert Carter. Over 45years old in 1791. Emancipated by deed dated January 1,
1793; deed proved in Westmoreland County Court, February 27,
